QUESTION: How do you represent a client that you know is guilty, or that may be guilty?
ANSWER: We are asked this question almost every day. Being an attorney that handles serious criminal cases, you are often faced with terrible circumstances and facts (see attached links below). However, there are many sides to every case. There are usually three (3) sides to every story-- his side, her side and the truth (which is usually somewhere in the middle).
Unfortunately, the media always seems to jump on and quickly report the outlandish, extreme, high-profile cases without telling the “other side of the story.” I believe the media should be unbiased, equal and thorough in their reporting, but, in realty, they are only interested in selling newspapers—not reporting the truth. Be cautious and aware when you see these type of stories.
With all this being said, every person deserves the best legal representation that they can get. Our job is to provide legal services and protect our clients to the fullest extent…even more so if its an extreme, high-profile case. Notice, and remember, that very rarely does the same media that reported the high-profile case in the beginning, report it at the end when a jury found the client not guilty on all charges.
No representation is made that the quality of the legal services to be performed is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers.
