Orange Beach is the small neighboring city of Gulf Shores, and is located on Alabama's Gulf Coast in Baldwin County and borders the Gulf of Mexico. As of 2010, the recorded population was 8,095. However, during the peak of summer season the town is found to be typically in excess of 100,000. Just like Gulf Shores, tourism is a main factor in the local economy, however most locals in the area reside in Orange Beach over Gulf Shores, because there's a little less traffic and less highrise condos. It’s more of a residential area than Gulf Shores is, but it still brings in high tourism numbers.

Orange Beach History
Orange Beach, Alabama was founded in 1984, not that long ago. It was first discovered by settlers in the mid 1860s. Orange groves replaced the depleted forestlands in the early 1900s, hence the name Orange Beach. The citrus industry was a big factor in the economy, until several hard winters ended it. Now the area focuses largely on tourism for more than just the sandy white beaches. People flock from all over to experience the deep sea fishing charters too. 

Orange Beach Climate
Just like Gulf Shores, the climate tends to be a humid subcostal climate with hot, long summers and winters that are sunny and fairly mild. Orange Beach has also suffered damage from multiple hurricanes and tropical storms over the recent years. Being part of the border at the north of the Gulf Of Mexico, it makes the area a hotspot for storms during hurricane season. 

Tourism In Orange Beach
The Wharf and Tanger Outlets are two of the major shopping and tourist attractions in Orange Beach. The Wharf has everything from concerts, to restaurants, to wedding and event space. The Tanger Outlet has many different popular stores such as a Nike and Adidas Outlet. There are also many local restaurants and shops in the beach area. Tourists also enjoy nearby prestigious golf courses and tennis facilities. Fishing charters are also a main tourist attraction in Orange Beach.
